It has been confirmed that the month of Dhul Hijjah will begin from the 3rd of September 2016.
The first ten days of the month of Dhul Hijjah are considered the best ten days of the year. These are days to worship, to give charity and to bring yourself closer to your Creator.
How to benefit from these blessed days:
1. Fasting during the first 9 days, especially the 9th day (The day of Arafat) is highly encouraged.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was asked about fasting on the day of Arafah. He replied: “Fasting on the day of Arafah is an expiation for the preceding year and the following year” – Sahih Muslim
2. Complete a Qurbani/Udhiyyah and give Sadaqah (Charity)
Offering a sacrifice is considered to be obligatory by some schools of thought or a strongly encouraged Sunnah by others, for those financially able. It is performed during the days of Eid, which is why Eid Al Adha translates to the ‘Festival of Sacrifice.’
This is also a time to give sadaqah and remember your Muslim brothers and sisters across the globe. We will all be celebrating Eid together, and it is a time to show love and support through charity.
3. Go on Hajj and Umrah
There will be millions of pilgrims heading to Mecca to perform the Hajj and complete Umrah during these days. Hajj is an obligation on those who are financially and physically able to perform it, and is a spiritual journey that millions of Muslims aspire to complete.
Not every will have this opportunity, however if you are fortunate enough to be going, please keep Palestine and the refugees of the world in your prayers and may it be a safe and beautiful experience for you!
4. Worship and remembrance
It is Sunnah to recite takbeer (Allahu Akbar), tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), tahleel (Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), and tasbeeh (SubhanAllah) during the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.
This is also a great time to put more effort into worship, such as praying more, and reciting and learning the Holy Qu’ran.
This is a time to remember and glorify Allah (swt) and be grateful and aware of your blessings. It is also a time to remember those who have to sacrifice and struggle, and to share your blessings with them.
Interpal would like to take this opportunity to thank all our donors for their continued support and we pray you reap the many rewards of this blessed time, inshAllah!
